Rice & Resourcefulness Workshop

Join Vanessa for her first cooking workshop at the Walker Nature Fire Ring, in Reston, Virginia.

Through this workshop we will:

  • Cook with a carbon steel wok outdoors.

  • Learn about different varieties of rice.

  • Understand what ingredients are good for fried rice, and how they can be integrated into our everyday lives.

  • Learn about Taiwanese, Filipino, Japanese and Hawaiian approaches to fried rice.

  • Work together to make three fried rice recipes.

  • Make new connections.

Reston, Virginia is a planned community in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area, conceived by New Yorker Robert E. Simon in 1964 and named after his initials. It was the first modern, post-war planned community in America. Reston was designed with nature in mind, and the desire for its residents to have easy access to live, work and play. Walker Nature Center develops programming around environmental education and action. Although this workshop series is independent of Walker Nature Center, we’re excited to be hosting and teaching at one of their facilities.

Cost $75. Limited to six.
